Marera Construction, a market leader in the field of reconstruction, was commissioned with the renovation and reconstruction of the existing structure of the famous “Beobanka” building in Zeleni Venac, at the corner of Brankova and Carice Milice streets.

The new modern office building named BRANKOV Business Center will have a total area of 10,500 square meters, of which 8,300 square meters are intended for lease. The building will have a total of 13 floors and, once renovated, will feature an impressive entrance hall, the use of sustainable materials in line with global trends and a green roof terrace on the sixth floor with a beautiful panoramic view of the capital.

Marera Construction, in cooperation with the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, has proven experience in the field of reconstruction of buildings and restoration of old buildings in the center of Belgrade, which are of particular importance and significance. In its portfolio there are almost 80 thousand square meters of successfully reconstructed commercial buildings, including the former “Beko“ factory in Donji Dorćol, now known as the modern office building “Kalemegdan Business Center“, the famous “Beograđanka“, as well as the BIGZ building, where work is in the final stages.

The former “Beobanka“ building was built in 1960 by Energoprojekt as an office building, according to a design by architect Milica Steric. The building was erected at a time when the requirements for office space, although modern for that time, were significantly different from those of today. Therefore, during the reconstruction, special emphasis was placed on the sustainability of the project, and the construction work was carried out in accordance with the latest ecological, technical and construction standards in order to create a modern office space for the tenants that would meet all business requirements. “If we take into account the year of completion of the building, its uniqueness and the original project, there are a number of challenges and peculiarities typical of this type of building. Working on such projects is extremely demanding, but also rewarding, as it requires a proactive approach to the work and the application of best practices, technical logic and skills,“ emphasizes Nemanja Ilić, Director of Marera Construction.

Ilić adds that each of the reconstruction projects so far has been demanding and challenging in its own way. However, they all have one thing in common: they had been neglected for years or even decades before the work began and were therefore in very poor condition. “An additional complicated circumstance is that they are all located in the city center and the works were carried out under very tight deadlines,” says Ilić.
